when the ground shifts.
there is a pull within us toward the familiar.
a deep yearning for what is known,
for what feels like home.
a lingering ache
to feel safe,
to feel secure,
to belong
wherever we are.
it rises,
sometimes quietly,
sometimes loudly.
arriving in fragments
or all at once.
undoing what we believed
would remain intact.
a kind of upheaval that threatens to capsize,
upending all that once felt certain.
and so begins the search
for something steady,
an anchor within the swirling tide
of the unfamiliar.
something to hold so we are not swept away
as the shifting landscape
of our small, tender worlds
continues to transform.
a reaching for gentle ground,
a soft place to land
within what can feel so heavy,
so overwhelming.
something,
anything,
to preserve,
to sustain,
to keep afloat
within our little pockets of existence.
there is a temptation
to turn away from the unease,
even as it asks us,
begs us,
to stay,
to soften,
to listen,
to receive what it has come to reveal.
there is wisdom here,
hidden in the whispers.
we know this.
we trust this.
lessons waiting within the fear,
within the discontent,
beneath the noise
that so often drowns them out.
may we be brave enough to pause,
to make space,
to turn toward what calls to us,
and discover what it longs to share
as we continue learning,
growing,
moving
into the ever-unfolding,
ever-expanding unknown.
