what this moment asks.
the journey of life requires a continual reorienting,
an attuning to the perspective,
the outlook,
needed most.
a timeless companion on the road:
zooming in,
zooming out.
an ever-present rhythm.
a careful walk along a balance beam.
the perpetual seesaw of being alive.
again and again,
asking:
what does this moment ask of me?
sometimes,
we am swept away by the micro,
lost among the countless details,
needing to remember what it is all for
before we are swallowed whole
by the vastness,
by the dread born of the persistent shadow of mortality,
where the macro threatens
to render every small act insignificant.
other times,
it is the macro that steadies us.
the wider vision that carries us forward
when the ordinary weight of each day
feels too heavy to bear.
alas,
as so often happens,
the both-and reveals itself.
not one perspective reigns supreme,
but instead,
the ability to move between them:
the interplay.
the shifting exchange.
both necessary.
both sustaining.
so the journey keeps asking:
which lens is my ally here?
a zooming in,
a narrowing of vision,
a microscopic focus,
followed by
a zooming out,
a widening of sight,
a bird's-eye view,
and back again.
