welcome.
embrace.
honor.
enjoy the unknown
and all the wisdom it carries.
smile
when you catch yourself
uttering, “i don’t know…”
for it means something
is waiting to be discovered.
learned.
created.
uncovered.
if only we invite it in
and dare to explore.
when we choose,
oh so bravely choose,
to meet the unknown with curiosity,
trust, and gratitude
instead of the all-too-familiar
fear, shame, and ridicule,
how differently we begin to live.
an entirely new way
of relating to ourselves
and to the world around us
begins to reveal itself.
this, of course,
is no small feat.
for knowing,
solving,
is where pride often makes its home.
fodder for the ego.
as a species,
we place great value on certainty.
for to know is to control,
to predict,
to protect.
and all of these
offer us a sense of safety
which, somewhere deep within us,
we have come to equate
with survival.
so to inhabit unknowing
cuts right to our core,
challenging the very conditioning
that has taught us how to feel safe.
and while we can thank this conditioning
for helping us evolve,
adapt, and endure,
we can also acknowledge
that there are moments
when we are better served
by loosening our grip.
by letting something remain unknown
a little while longer.
by allowing ourselves to rest
in a different kind of space.
resisting the urge
to force certainty
simply to find the comfort
of an answer.
a comfort that,
in the end,
may only confine us,
limiting all that might otherwise
emerge
and become.
so,
when the time is right,
explore what it feels like
to sit in a spirit of unknowing.
greet it as a teacher,
rather than a threat.
see what it teaches you.
what it unearths.
and as you sit there,
let yourself be held
by the steady belief
that even here,
something remains known:
the inner truths that ground us,
hold us,
and carry us forward.
“i don’t know the path i am on,
but i know i have found my way before.”
“i don’t know the answer,
but i know i am open to the lesson.”
a beautiful act of spiritual rebellion
against the shoulds
that try to force
life’s messy unfolding
into the neat confines
of predictability
and expectation.
it is learning to sit inside the tension.
living in the questions.
trusting.
watching
as something reveals itself.
an expansion.
a contraction.
a breath.
a release.
and when the unknown
stirs the familiar stories,
the ones that whisper
incompetence,
defectiveness,
incapability,
inadequacy,
not-enoughness,
we can choose differently.
instead of letting those stories
define what not knowing means,
we can practice
creating space around them.
the old neural pathways may fire,
but we do not have to follow them.
we can clear a path
of a different kind.
meeting “i don’t know”
with neutrality.
with respect.
allowing it to take on
a different meaning.
one held not by the mind,
but by the heart.
for at the heart of unknowing
lies spaciousness.
possibility.
creativity.
growth.
grace.
it is okay not to know.
it is courageous not to know.
it is powerful not to know.
it is beautiful not to know.
may we learn this.
explore this.
embrace this.
and in doing so,
come to know
the beauty of unknowing.
