i settle for thank you.

thank you
is all i keep finding myself saying,
as though two words could communicate,
could capture the immense feeling
that overwhelms me.

here,
in this hour,
language falls short,
and despite how inadequate,
how insufficient it feels,
still,
i settle for thank you.

for however limited it is,
i honor its attempt to recognize
the beauty,
the magnitude
of what was created here,
of what was lived here,
of what was shared.
together.

so i say it again,
and perhaps once more,
to make up for the lack
and sit with the vast appreciation
that washes over me,
with only
thank you
to utter.
